waterdeep starting kit and general newbie areas
waterdeep starting kit and general newbie areas
I was thinking that the stores or the dummies in the various starting areas should have the spellpouches and offer animal hides. It'd be good for them in the general places, and its something integral for wizards and to a smaller degree clerics.

Hides → in Blingdenstone.
Re: waterdeep starting kit and general newbie areas
Theres only a couple of starting zones that you can't go out and find them in that place. I'm not sure of Bligdenstone but Shadowdale is one as well.

Re: waterdeep starting kit and general newbie areas
After starting out not in Waterdeep for once, I found myself ending up in waterdeep for coin and quests by lvl 10.
is this a common theme? Or is it just someone too used to the game going to old hunting grounds?
As a note, I started in Westgate this time.

I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!

Yemin's grievance is similar to mine. The starting areas in other cities are ill-equipped in terms of adequate coin. Waterdeep has those nice newbie quests that dish out a few masterwork goodies that earn the young adventurer enough coin to buy basic armors and things.

If you have experience building or designing areas and have experienced these difficulties outright, what about applying to do new starting areas in the same vein of Waterdeep?
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Re: waterdeep starting kit and general newbie areas
Turning my attention to building later on this year hopefully. I saw on the to build list that Harroghty posted that a bunch of areas needing to be built are low level ones near starting areas.
In the end I think those should fit the bill. From My experience, I needed coin and experience. quests would be nice but the first two are what would keep me there to get strong enough to pheasably struggle to other cities at around lvl 15+ instead of lvl 7/8.

Hmm. Once I finish this area I shall look into those myself. I am slowly working on some small things I have to play with
Re: waterdeep starting kit and general newbie areas
I feel like many of the problems of starting in a city that's not Waterdeep could be solved with a ten or fifteen platinum starting package. Back in Skullport, I had to grind for hours just to work up enough coin for one piece of mail armor, which was incredibly annoying.
