Accolade of Sir Harroghty Rallyhorn

Post by Harroghty » Mon Jan 29, 2018 4:22 am

From March 2008:
Moonsea Ride
N-Darkness E-Darkness S-Darkness W-Darkness
NE-Darkness NW-Darkness SE-Darkness SW-Darkness
The road is clear of grass and heavily rutted from the passage of many
wagons bearing their heavy loads. There are several potholes that you
must take care to avoid tripping in.
The sky is cool and cloudless and a cold northern gust blows.
A Purple Dragon Knight stands here.
Misrim, a black Cormyrean Boldshield is here mounted by you.
You dismount Misrim, a black Cormyrean Boldshield.
Harroghty reins in Misrim, a black Cormyrean Boldshield and dismounts, bowing his head to Altross Corathax.
Altross Corathax stands in the middle of the road.
You say to Altross Corathax 'Good e'en, sir.'
Altross Corathax speaks in common.
Altross Corathax exclaims 'Hail!'
Altross Corathax speaks in common.
Altross Corathax asks 'I say, I say where abouts am I?'
Harroghty looks up, replying, 'I am called Harroghty, from Immersea. And you are on the Moonsea Ride.'.
Altross Corathax says to you 'Then you are the one I seek.'
Harroghty bows his head slightly again, saying, 'May I have the honor of your name then, sir? By your aspect you are in our country's service.'.
Wearing a deep purple breastplate and a dark cloak with the Purple Dragon
of Cormyr on the clasp, this stout figure has a snow white beard
and a ruddy complexion. His dark eyes sparkle with curiousity
and something undefined. A fine sword on the belt around his
muscled girth jingles musically with every breath he takes.

Altross Corathax is in perfect health.
Altross Corathax is using:
<worn as armour> steel chain mail
Altross Corathax says to you 'The horse...well they called it a horse, but war wizard magic conjured a spirit mount...'
Altross Corathax says to you 'My name! I am Altross Corathax, servant of the crown.'
Harroghty bows his head fully this time, saying, 'You are well met then, sir.' He cants his head slightly.
Altross Corathax says to you 'They sent me on the mount to find you.'
You ask Altross Corathax 'What business has the crown with me? Is my sword needed?'
Altross Corathax says to you 'I don't know why, but apparently they've been having trouble contacting you, I suspect the recent problems in the south.'
Altross Corathax says to you 'Kneel.'
Harroghty nods once, immediately dropping to a knee and choking up his grasp on his lance.
You kneel down.
Altross Corathax cants his head to the side as he mouths some words to himself then nods.
Altross Corathax says 'Speak the Oath of Wrath.'
Harroghty looks up slightly, saying, 'The code of the Purple Dragon Knights?'.
Altross Corathax says to you 'Yes, the oath.'
Altross Corathax asks 'Shall I say it and you repeat?'
A merchant caravan trundles past.
Harroghty nods once, saying, 'I know only the code taught to me as a boy in the militia.'.
The sky is getting cloudy.
Altross Corathax nods.
Altross Corathax says to you 'Remember this, for it is life.'
Altross Corathax says 'Forget it and fall.'
Harroghty tenses his fingers on his lance's shaft.
Altross Corathax says 'By king and country. By crown and swordarm. I shall live and serve with honour and never with malice. For the Forest kingdom, and the Obarskyr pact.'
Harroghty repeats the words after Altross Corathax, speaking in a clear voice, 'By king and country. By crown and swordarm. I shall live and serve with honour and never with malice. For the Forest kingdom, and the Obarskyr pact.'.
Altross Corathax says 'As the sword is bound, I shall not slay the unarmed nor break or bend rank.'
Harroghty again echoes, saying, 'As the sword is bound, I shall not slay the unarmed nor break or bend rank.'.
Altross Corathax says 'For those that trust in me, for man and woman. I am the defense of Cormyr. A Purple Dragon.'
Harroghty states, 'For those that trust in me, for man and woman. I am the defense of Cormyr. A Purple Dragon.'.
Altross Corathax nods and slaps you soundly across the face!
Altross Corathax nods.
Altross Corathax says 'Never forget the vow, say it every morning, for you may die before the coming nightfall.'
Harroghty looks up then, meeting Altross Corathax's gaze with a stinging red fresh on his cheek. 'I shall not fail this trust.'.
Altross Corathax gives you a Purple Dragon signet ring.
Altross Corathax says to you 'Good, my comrade.'
Altross Corathax nods.
Harroghty rolls the lance to rest against his shoulder and gazes at the ring a moment, almost dumbly, before putting it on.
You stop using a heavy gold ring with the symbol of Waterdeep.
You slip your finger into a Purple Dragon signet ring.
Altross Corathax salutes you.
You put a heavy gold ring with the symbol of Waterdeep in a white and black badger fur sporran.
You move quickly to your feet.
Harroghty collects his lance and stands, returning a smart salute to Altross Corathax, 'Tis an honor for you to consider me such, sir.'.
Altross Corathax says to you 'I am just the messenger. My friend, you just do the best you can. Remember the oath and study it in full at your leisure.'
Harroghty bows his head again, saying, 'I will put it to careful study that I might adhere to its letter and spirit together.'.
Altross Corathax says to you 'I fear they sent me because of my softness.'
Harroghty chuckles faintly, saying, 'You slap firmly enow, sir.'.
Altross Corathax says to you 'Well, fifty years of duty does that.'
Altross Corathax smiles.
You say to Altross Corathax 'I suppose 'twould, yes.'
Altross Corathax says to you 'I am ten span from home.'
Altross Corathax says to you 'I will depart to the spirit mount, before it dissipates.'
Harroghty nods once to Altross Corathax, 'May you travel safely and enjoy the Gods' good favor, and the Crown's.'.
Altross Corathax says to you 'Bren Tallsword will probably disagree with you.'
Altross Corathax says to you 'If you see him, don't expect the same kindness. He is not a soft man like me.'
Altross Corathax gazes off into the distance.
You say to Altross Corathax 'A harsh taskmaster is not a bad one necessarily.'
Altross Corathax exclaims to you 'Oh, he is a great man. My years at Crag were good ones. I will not harry you any further. Anon, anon as the bards say. Go off to your work!'
Altross Corathax steps into the plains.
Altross Corathax walks northwest.
Harroghty bows his head as Altross departs.
