External Publications Links

Is there a policy on providing external links within publications? There are a few things I'd want to illustrate within some of the stuff I'm writing - pencil-sketch-type illustrations - but I wasn't sure if this was frowned upon or not.

You might also consider converting it to ascii and including it in the book.
