How is the house you are going to be in chosen?

Its random on generation I believe.

You could even be really lucky and be a commoner

lol, when I first started my drow, he was a commoner, I was unhappy with this, so I deleted him. Is this bad?

hmn, well, I wouldn`t have done it personally, but I suppose it is your call, although with the new char creation system that would have cost you a load of kismet...

I kinda wanted to get a commoner, but both my drow have been nobles of the same house *shrug*

The RP possibility is immense noble or not though, so I wouldn`t worry about what noble house you get or if you get a commoner..

just my thoughts *shrug*
