Shieldwork in the Newbie Temples

Post by Theillik » Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:59 pm

I was thinking that we should be able to train to use shields with in the Newbie Temple. I would think that there would be more people in medieval times able to use a shield than there would be dual wieldists or two-hand weapon users.

PS Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but I didn't know where else to put it.

I think you are right... you should be... but in the newbie temp... there are no shields... only bucklers... and to be able to learn shieldwork you need a shield

A buckler counts as a shield, learning shieldwork allows you to shield block with it.

perhaps some people just don't like fighting. It's more IC for them to choose shields (making shieldwork and a plain shield a possible option at character creation instead of a weapon?)
or perhaps a min shieldwork skill that comes automatically with certain classes.
e.g. rogue - none
wizard - amateur
priest - novice
warrior - apprentice
Chars: Aryvael et all.

I think it could be idea. But don't give the skill to wizards. They're too busy looking at books to bother learning how to lift a shield. ;)

I would assume that the skill would be given to those who are able to learn it acccording to D&D
