I would like to create a new forum called something like 'Blabla' where people can chat OOCly. Auto-prune will be switched on in this forum and will prune everything older than a week. Any opinions on this?
With regards to the organisation of the forums, I think we can dramatically reduce the number of forums that we have. Is there any reason why we couldn't change the structure to something like this:
Collapse all Racial Forums into just 'Races',
Collapse all Class Forums into just 'Classes', collapse all feats etc into 'Skills/Spells/Feats/Trades',
Remove all organisation ones and replace with IC boards in-game.
Opinions solicited!

I would love more IC boards as they would help arranging RPs in a more IC way.
As far as the forums go a consolidation also sounds like a good idea as many of the forums have little activity. But i would like it if possible to abstract some of the information from the forums as there have been some interesting discussions and IMM rulings on the various forums.

Something I've always kind of thought would be a great idea is have an IC board where you can set up adventures that couldn't normally take place in the game. For example, a castle seige where PCs could join either side of the seige and RP through their posts. A lot like many RPing forums out there, IE WotC forum. These stories would be IC and technically would have happened in game at some point during your character's life.
Anyway, kind of a crazy idea and I understand if most think it wouldn't fit into our community. But I thought I'd throw it out there because I thought it was a neat idea.

That sounds like a cool idea, but I'd suggest that a better medium would be a wiki rather than a forum. We are looking into different Wiki solutions at the moment - if anyone has any suggestions as to which Wiki software to run, please post here. I think that MediaWiki is a bit too heavy for our needs...

I'm all for collapsing the race and class forums down; I suggested the new forums above in a post Dal started on the topic:2) In truth, I didn't find the breakout of specific topics a big issue one way or the other...then again, I read all new posts, most of the time. If anything, it seems some new (broad) subtopics may be called for, because General Discussion seems to catch 90% of all posts. Perhaps new forums such as
Roleplay Announcements and other IC Announcements
Game References and Mileu Information
Technical Questions and Game Mechanics
or something along those lines...a quick read through general suggests to me those are common themes.
3) Perhaps "Funny Moments" could be moved to a new Forum called "IC Moments" with Funny, Tender, Scary, and others as headings therein. The funny ones are the best, but I think these often also present an example of what fun/good RP might look like, and it's good to have examples from a spectrum of emotions.

I apologize for yapping off a reply without seeing the changes that had already been made! Looks nice!
A question on hard code vs. area code: Can everyone post/read the game mechanics section, or is the idea there that a code team member will post relevant hard code issues that arise in the area code section, worthy of Mask's attention?

All registered users can currently post/read the Game Mechanics section.
I am not sure what you mean by "area code" section though. The section that would be closer to that is the Builder section, but it's not used to report area bugs.
The idea - as I understand it - is that, when a bug is encountered in game, either the player can classify it as an area bug or a hard code bug, or (s)he can't.

- Area bugs are better reported in a mail to builders@forgottenkingdoms.com (you can put IC information or quest information in a mail, but I'd rather not have bugs report on the forum with such info).
- Hard code bugs are better reported with a post in the Bug Reporting section.
- If in doubt, either post in the Bug Reporting section (with no "restricted" information), or send in a mail. If I get a hard code bug in a mail, I simply send it to one of the testers who can then report it properly. And I check the Bug Reporting forum from time to time, so even area code bugs reported there will eventually get noticed.
