Two questions and a possible suggestion.
1. What determines when a quill dries up? It is a time setup or number of times used?
2. Is there a way to refill them after they dried up? Would hate to think some of the more unique quills are dry forever (like the ones once offered at a certain catalog store).
And that brings us to the possible suggestion, if there is no way to refill quills... can there be one?

You do not need to change the world, merely leave it a little better than how you found it.

Re: Quills
I would prefer that the quills be able to be refilled...however if this is not an option for whatever reason..
Could it be made that dried up quills just junk? It is sooooo frustrating to have to go through all of the quills you have just to find one that has ink, or to find that out of twenty, none have ink. Or the ONE you do find that has ink..only has enough for one use and then it is out too. And I hate to just leave quills everywhere, but then, you don't want to bury them either..because then you have everyone burying them and there are like 100 buried quills in game. I do not even want to talk about the number of quills Ynaura can have on her at one time. Occasionally I'll take her out, and make a fire to burn them..but she is not really the go out and build a fire type of girl. She has a husband for that....perhaps she'll just start giving him all the used quills... Basically, I'm just asking that if the previous suggestion is not found workable for whatever reason can we think of some way to where it would atleast be easier to distinguish a full quill from an empty one?

Re: Quills
I agree with Nysan that it would be nice to have a way to re-ink quills it would certainly not be an unbalancing change to things and would make IC sense. Perhaps accomplished through a second item with a command word.
A vial of ink with the command of dip
When the ink and a quill are held the command would reset whatever field determines how long a quill can be used and give a local echo about dipping the quill into ink.

Re: Quills
Wouldn't it be easier just to make them always working? I don't understand the value of role playing running out of ink as a wizard. Seems unnecessary.
Listen up! People pay good money to see this movie! When they go out to a theater they want cold sodas, hot popcorn, and no monsters in the projection booth! Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?
Re: Quills
The used to just junk. Quills deteriorate only when you use them. Examining a quill shows you how much ink is left. I would love for the option of quills being refillable with ink, but it would need to be tempered by having to purchase more ink and cutting availability for fist purchases of quills in half.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.
Re: Quills
Glad to see I am not alone in the battle of the ink well. I shall not let that writing stylus go quietly into the night!
Definately would like to see ink wells or ink pouches put in-game, buyable at same vendors as quills perhaps, that refresh quills. Would even support in a raise in quill cost, since they basically become one-time-buy items, after this change.

Re: Quills
I like this idea! It would definitly help out IC, a LOT. Having to purchase quill after quill is quite tedious.
