Jarus Altens, Senior Steeleye of Lord Helm
From the time that he was only a child, Jarus Altens was reared in the
teachings of Helm. The eldest of three sons born to a member of the
Waterdeep City Guard, the principles of vigilance and protection were always
honoured in his childhood home. Though trained in the ways of combat like
the the other males of his family, Jarus took a deep interest in spiritual
matters from an early age, favouring prayer and learning on an equal level
with sparring. After learning much about the Great Guardian from his father,
Jarus departed for Berdusk at the age of sixteen to seek tutelage from the
priests at the Ready House of the Right Strong Hand. He sought the path
earnestly, and it was not terribly long before he was accepted into the
faith. Ever seeking to earn the favour of his god and to further his church,
Jarus quickly rose in rank, being allowed to aid in overseeing the
construction of a shrine to Helm in Waterdeep. When he was twenty years
old, Jarus heard the voice of Helm whilst in the midst of praying. The voice
named him Senior Steeleye, and bade him to spread the teachings of vigilance
to those that would hear. As a Steeleye, Jarus works tirelessly to regain
the glory of Helms church, and to teach and aid those that truly seek the
path of the guardian.
