Heighten spell feat

This feat allows you to cast a spell as if it were three levels higher than
it would otherwise be. The heightened spell is as difficult to prepare and
cast (and takes up the same higher-level spell slot) as a spell of its
effective level, but may then be able to penetrate certain magical defenses
that would keep the base spell at bay. For example, magic missile is a first
level spell, and would normally be blocked by a
minor globe of
invulnerability
. If heightened, however, magic missile becomes a fourth
level spell that will penetrate such a defense. Additionally, heightened
spells are cast as if the caster was more of an expert in the spell. A
journeyman in magic missile would cast it as if they were adept, if the spell
is heightened.
