Mounted polearms are long weapons that can be used on horseback.
They are used mostly by warriors.  Mounted polearms include:

   javelin       lance         spear
   scythe
 
* When examined, a polearm weapon will be described as a polearm
if unequipped or equipped while dismounted.  The same weapon will
be described as a mounted polearm if equipped while mounted.  You
must be mounted with a polearm equipped in order to train this skill.
You must have the mounted combat feat to wield a polearm in one hand
while mounted.
