Parry vs. Unarmed Attacks
Is it possible to enable parrying against enemies that are not using weapons. After all, I think that if a character is able to effectively parry a sword, a fist would really be easier to intercept. After all, they're generally moving more slowly.
I would say that it would be best if this were done where you could block an unarmed attack only if you were also unarmed. Because if I am holding a sword and someone is trying to hit me with their fist and I have the ablitliy to block it....I am gonna chop there hand off. then not have to worry about it anymore. SO that would not really be a parry skill.
Though both opponents being unarmed, and can see where you could BLOCK an oncoming fist and COUNTERPUCH, instead of Riposte.
My thoughts.

What I was saying exactly Algon! Thanks for putting it in better words, the counterpunch would also be very plausible instead of riposte. And I agree you would chop their hand off which you could easily do ICly. What about when you hit someone without a helm in the head with a sharp pick? ICly they would fall to the ground dead, but codewise that wouldn't be all too fair.

Ooooh, I do like the idea of a block/counterpunch combo for unarmed fighting. Then again, I like anything resembling a monk. That is a long ways away thought I believe(if ever)....monks that is. Solid idea though, might be tough to do.

A young male human looks at your claw, his eyes widen, "Wha-what is that on your claw?"
You look to the claw, stopping abruptly
You yell, "Git et off! Git et off!" and begin to hop up and down, shaking your hand,
voice turning to a girlish scream!

The way I see it, whether you're armed or not, there are always going to be ways that you can block incoming attacks rather than just dodging them. It's my opinion that parry should be a skill used nearly as much as dodging, rather than a parry to every tenth dodge, especially if a player is fighting in a defensive stance.
