Winterfest Ball - Dec. 23rd

Post by Waukeen » Sun Dec 10, 2006 7:13 pm

Greetings,

You have all been formally invited by the High Lady of Berdusk to attend a fancy dress ball in honour of the Winterfest season on Dec. 23rd, 2006. The High Lady has proclaimed that there will be food and drink, dancing, and bardic playing for all. Additionally, gifts will be given to each of our guests.

All are invited, no matter the race or deity they serve. Please let it be known, though, that ANYONE causing trouble will be swiftly removed by palace guards.

(PM me if you are interested in attending as a bard. Renames will be given for free on this day on the one condition that it must be a gift for someone else, and preferably a Winterfest gift. The festivities will begin at 6 PM EST. Hope to see everyone there!)

Stupid to ask, but, will we have new merchants/shops for masks and other fancy clothing?

If you (and others) could give me a few examples of what you would like to see worn, I'll put them in Aurora's the day of the event. :) Feel free to list what you'd like to see.

Perhaps some outfits resembling animals would be fun.
Like peacocks, bears, tigers, bees (don't forget the wings!) etc.

And perhaps some outfits that would resemble pirates, kings, queens etc.
And I would like to see fake dwarf beards, fake elven ears, fake gnome bellies and stuff like that :)

For dressing up as a dwarf:

worn on body: a rubber pot-belly clothed in fake armour
worn on face: a fake dwarf beard made out of string
held: a mug with fake cotton wool foam
worn on head: a mop of unkempt dwarven hair
worn on legs: dwarven pantyhose
worn on arms: hairy fake dwarven skin

For dressing up as an elf:

worn on body: an intricate tunic of flowers
worn on head: angular elf-mask
worn on ears: rubber elf-ears
worn on feet: rubber elf-feet
worn on arms: rubber elf-arms
worn on legs: an intricate flower-skirt
held: the Book of Supposed Superiority

For dressing up as an orc:

worn on body: a green rubber body-suit
worn on face: an orc mask
worn on ears: rubber orc-ears with fake bone
held: an axe made out of cardboard
held: a papier-mache elf-head

For dressing up as a daisy:

worn on body: a green rubber body-suit
worn on head: a massive fake daisy

For dressing up as a vampire:

worn on face: sharp, blood-dripping vampire fangs

And maybe more...

Some weeks ago the guard on the Square gave turkey-costumes to all gathered there, perhaps there could be more costumes like those and different ones? :) With drappings like tails (dog/cat/horse whatever) and/or birdcrowns.

And don't forget the drow, as far as I know they are quite favoured as costumes among the nobility's revels in the forgotten realms. :)

Following Lerytha's example it could be like this

worn on body: a black tunic with spider ornaments
worn on face: a drow mask or black soot
worn on head: a white peruke
worn on ears: fake black elf ears
held: a fake whip (if you're a girl or costume like a female)
held: a fake spider or mean looking papier-maché-dagger

A tiger could look like this

worn on body: striped tiger-costume
worn on face: tiger-mask or tiger-make-up
worn around face: fake whiskers
worn on head: plush-tiger-ears
worn on hands: plush paw-gloves with plush-claws
worn around waist: a long tiger's tail
worn on leg: striped trousers
worn on feet: paw-shoes with plush-claws

Can perhaps someone check 6 pm EST with this worldtime-website, I seem to be too stupid to find out what time 6 pm EST is for me.

Rubber?

I would suggest to avoid using rubber, and perhaps keep it for when we add Maztica to the FK world?

A prehistoric squirrel (like Ice Age one):

arms: Long fluffy arms that end in claws
Legs: Long fluffy legs that end in claws
Body: Long stripe down the back for fur
Waist: A big fluffy tail poofing out
Held: A handful of Walnuts

A swan:

Head: A graceful hat with feathers spilling off of the back
Mask: Wide set almost shaped eyes with a arching graceful nose
Body: Light tender silk of the palest of white hazes stiched with feathers to the tunic
Arms: Tender silk sleeves of a white haze touched along the edges with feathers

I would like to see some wigs, in exotic colors. Like pink, lilac, sky blue, green, white, orange, red (IE not natural red but red red) and maybe even streaked.

Metallic Dragon (silver) (you can switch out the coloring and metal type for different dragons good and evil)

Head: Large silver metal coif woven together to cover the head
Mask: Huge eyes settled with a large snout of monsterous teeth
Body: A tunic of pale silver with silver metal woven into the patterns of scales
Arms: Sleeves of silver cloth sleekly clink to the wearer
Waist: A set of large silver wings rise from the waist (magic for levitate for the night)
Hands: A pair of tri clawed gloves of silver
Feet: Silver slippers that meet into clawed points.

Beholder (looks like it is a floating huge beholder :)

Head: A cap of large stalks of eyes that seem to move about
mask: See through top of a large monsterous ball
Body: Monsterously huge mouth with pointy teeth!
Arms: Slender sleeves that appear to sweep downwards getting sleeker
Hands: A big eyebrow painted over the gloves
Legs: Pants that seem to be invisble blending into the surroundings
Feet: Slippers that appear to be invisible bleding into the surroundings

some more ideas if you want I will think up some others too :)

I hate to just chime in on this, but I would REALLY like to see those dragon ones. I really would

But as an aside, could people buy the same costume? Or would it have to be one of a kind? I mean how gauch is it to show up in the same dress as someone else

Mayhaps same costumes but in different colors. As for the dragons you could go for the metalic or the chromatic with the same basic-costume but other minor drappings like horns of a black dragon or those tentacle-like things gold dragons have on their mouth.

Thinking about tentacles, there could be even illithids :) A mask with a bunch of their nasty tentacles, covering the mouth of it's wearer. It would be fun to see dwarves or so posing as illithids.

could look like that:

Head: hood
worn on face: violet illithid mask
worn around face: three thick, slimy and nasty looking tentacles
worn on Body: tight robe
Arms: sleeves of fine dark drapery
Hands: gloves, ending in skeletal long fingers
feet: fine slippers

According to the wings, perhaps Butterfly wings among others :)

What about pair-costumes? One of the pair wears the costume of the female and the other wears the one of the male. Would fit with peacooks, pheasants and other animals such as deers and sheep etc.

I dunno about anyone else, but i'm getting childishly excited about this...

I'd like to second votes for drow, illithid and beholder costumes...

Oh it's not just you who's getting excited and bouncy about it ;)

I agree with Caelyvar's comment about people turning up in the same outfits, but I'm also fearful of the amount of renaming work it could cause for poor Waukeen! Perhaps outfits should be limited to just a couple of items that would really 'make' it? Like a mask and an accessory?

Unless of course Waukeen's fine with it, in which case I'm SURE I can come up with a few more outfits ;)

Remember as well that if you look hard enough there are items ingame already that would be fine additions to a costume, if not a costume in themselves...

Bah, spoil my surprise why don't you?

I'd like to see a goodly stock of masks in varying colours and degrees of absurd decoration. I think it's time for an underground shipment of Manshoon masks too!
