Greater Shadow Evocation
Greater Shadow Evocation
Im a bit confused about something concerning the spell Greater Shadow Evocation and it would be much appreciated if anyone could shed some light on this for me
Whats the point of this spell, if it mimicks the effect of a Delayed Blast Fireball? Why not just memorise the spell DBF? Or would this be more useful to those who do not have the spell DBF in their spell lists?
This spell confuses me mostly for the same reasons in tabletop
Thank you for any help,

Shadow Evocation becomes a valuable spell for those of the enchantment and conjuration schools, who cannot learn actual evocation spells.

Ahh, alright
I was looking at it from an illusionists point of view (and its an illusion spell). They can cast both spells. Basically, if you can cast both, shadow evocation becomes useless, correct?
I hate to call a spell useless, as it took valuable time to code. It has uses in the way you say, but just from the point of view I speak of, it seems to be this way.
If im wrong, please, correct me. Im actually hoping someone can.
Feedback is always welcome,
Thanks,

It's a higher level spell than DBF and uses the saving throws applicable to a level 8 rather than a level 7 spell, thus making it more powerful. And it gets additional bonuses when cast on the shadow plane (should you happen to find yourself there )

Is there a good place to find the 3.5 standards for spell resistance, or will the rules be spelled out if/when the changes come in?Dalvyn wrote:I think it does.
Or rather, it might.
Once spell resistance code is updated to follow the 3.5 standards. (Which is, by the way, one of the reasons why many high level spells do not currently have any trainers).
