An inspiring Helmite farewell to those of dubious alignment.

Venerating Cyric with a farewell is more difficult than you would have thought... Wanton threats and religious warnings seem to suffice!

"Pray for the bite of Strife's embrace"
"On the Day of The Coming of The Dark Sun, beg only for Murder's clutch"
"Do not rejoice until I am gone"
"This is General Lath'lain Dy'nesir, of the Ebon Spur. Walking Murder surrounded by a thin veneer of civility."

(Answering my own questions now :P)

Tandria likes to say "May your travels be Wonderful and Mysterious."
My Oghman likes to say either "The Binder inspire you" or "Gain the Knowledge you seek".
"May your travels be Wonderful and Mysterious."

For Kelemvor worshippers you could do a number of farewells based on snippets from the faith's dogma and depending on whether or not you want it to be always friendly.

Do not fear Death.
Death is a part of life.
Death is a part of life, fear it not, evade it not, and view not as evil.
May you die with dignity.
Honor those who have fallen before.
Don't fear the Reaper.
Kelemvor awaits all.
May Kelemvor find you soon.
May Kelemvor grant you rest.

For the Garlites:
Glittergold guide your feet and hands
Through misty forests and golden lands.

For the Selunites (even though it's a greeting instead of a farewell, and stolen from Tolkien to boot :D ):
A star shines on the hour of our meeting.

I Have a good one

"May you live all the days of your life."

Quite the interesting quote. It is abstracting in meaning. One surely lives every day of their life because they are living meaning they are not dead. In essence those that merely live as an organism are not living because they choose to go through life living period. The abstractor is dynamic becuase his life holds purpose and he does things that are more than merely getting up in the morning and then returning to bed. In essence the farewell states may you do something with your life, may you live it to the fullest and may you live it out with purpose and joy in actions that are your nature and strength. It demands nothing but only asks one to consider their actions and compliments their actions so far. Thank you.

I thought of a Selunite one that's not a farewell, but more like a battle cry. Would be most effective in battles against Sharites.

"In the name of the Moon, I'll punish you!"

Lower your tomatoes, please. I know I'm shameless and I copied that. :P HAD to post it, though. ;)

Deity farewells?

Post by Nicolya » Wed May 19, 2004 3:53 pm

For my priestess of Sune (i know it's been awhile) Nicolya, I've used the following

May Lady Firehair smile her blessed beauty on you

May the flames of passion fill your heart

May Lady Firehair bless you with new sights of beauty.

And for those she does not like or who are rude or dismissive of her role as a Priestess of Sune

I shall pray one day that the flames of Lady Firehair find their way into your heart and turn what is ugly into something beautiful.

For Tymora, an easy one that sounds nice, (took this from 'help idioms')

I generally make something up with "knowledge" in it, but people leave before I can hammer it out, so I usually say either:

1) Quickly, "Oghma smile."
2) "The Wise One watch over you."

General sayings which could be turned into goodbyes...

3) May wisdom flower within.
4) Do not flinch from knowledge.
5) Keep to the truth.

And probably the worst thing I have ever said to a Selunite: "The moon cannot live without the night..." (in reference to Shar-Selune angst and hatred...)

Not one of my more... diplomatic moves.

Yep, that's it.

Another Kelemvorite one....

May the Lord of the grave watch over you.

Pretty interesting...but not something I would put on a t-shirt.

As a Helmite myself I generally use, "May Helm's watchful gaze be upon you"
It does the job :P

For Mystran's

There is only One True Spell.

(It's actually part of an Elminster Quotation that continued. "...and her kisses are sweet.")

How about for Ilmateri? I usually say something along the lines of,

May Ilmater keep you safe
or
Please be well in all your travels

But I've also considered something along the lines of
May Ilmater grant you the strength to endure other's pains.

But that seems rather long and something you wouldn't really "wish" upon another. Any ideas for something better? How about,

May you have the strength to endure.

Yes, no? :?
