These are now fixed, and their implementation has been greatly simplified. We have some plans to make these much easier to open and run, with some additional wrinkles coming.
Are player-run shops an option again?

This is in the works. More to follow.

What about players who already have a shop? Will they have to open another one? or could they use again the one they have ?

Yes, they will either have to open a new one or re-use one they already have!

Seriously though, I re-connected every shop where I could find the necessary ingredients of a shopkeeper loaded into a shop and a storeroom. If a shop hasn't yet been reconnected, then something will happen to it as part of the plan that is in the works.

What about players with dwellings and storeroom, but no shopkeeper? Will they be able to hire a shopkeeper?

Yes, something will happen to shops which have a storeroom and no shopkeeper which may involve hiring a shopkeeper.

Should we try hiring now or wait for the time being?
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

The only change that has so far been made is that shops which had shopkeepers and storerooms have been modified such that the two are now correctly connected together (as well as some information about dwelling is now available in the 'worth' command).

No other changes have yet been made and the plans for player-run shops are in the works, but not yet completed or finalised. These plans will cover existing dwellings, and are not yet finalised. You are currently unable to hire a new shopkeeper or guard if your dwelling or shop does not already have one.
