Paladins

A paladin is a holy warrior of his or her god. They are elite warriors
who follow a strict ethos proscribed by their church and eventually from
an order (if they choose to join one of the available orders and if they
are accepted). Their powers are great, but depend upon their loyalty and
obedience to the strict code of conduct given to them - paladins who
stray from the path of good and righteousness are surely struck down.

In history the term paladin is derived from Latin and means "servant of
the palace". A few notable examples are "les Douz Pairs"(the 12 Peers of
Lancelot, or Galahad. Examples can be found in fiction and non-fiction
from the Middle Ages, ranging from the fanciful adventures in "Parsifal"
to the practical instruction of "In Praise of the New Knighthood" by St.
Bernard of Clairvaux to Hugh de Payens, Master of the Templars.

In Forgotten Kingdoms a paladin is a holy warrior in the service of his
or her god, but a player character (PC) must undergo difficult training
to earn the title. The Paladin class is not chosen at character creation.
This roleplay is long, difficult, and demanding and there is not a
guarantee that your PC will be successful. Choose this role-play if you
think you are up for the challenge, but understand it is not a choice
only, but also a commitment and challenging role-play.

Paladin Eligibility Requirements:

* Be a human, aasimar, elf, halfelf, dwarf, or halfling
* Have the lawful good alignment.
* Have the warrior class.
* Have a 15 Charisma ability score (16 is required in order to become
a paladin).
* Be at least an Initiate in an acceptable faith (See below)

* Paladins are created by schools and these schools may have their own
requirements of race, religion, or statistics (ability scores).

The coded program is complemented and followed by evaluation in role-
play by priests, other good characters, and paladins of the PCs faith
and of other faiths. Entrance to the coded, formal lessons is not a
guarantee of success and only dedicated, obedient PCs will go on to
become one of these holy champions of their god.

Paladin Characteristics:

* A Bonded Mount
* Continual 'detect evil' ability
* Daily innate abilities
* Free feats granted by school membership
