Re: Glory
For the creation of magic items we should define cost per charge on items that cast spells. There should be an additional cost if you want to have the item recharge itself daily. I would also combine +Hitroll and +Damroll into a single +1 for weapons. We should probably put the +1 for weapons and +1...

Re: Telnet Horizontal Buffer
On a side note, if anyone is using the default windows telnet client and can't see what they're typing, there's a way to fix that. The telnet program should show something called the escape character when the program is started. Default (at least on my machine) is CTRL+]. Use that key combo once you...

I might be able to attend, but I can't commit to it. I'll be at work when the meeting is scheduled and even if I can attend my attention will be split.

Re: Holding spells and Still & Silent feats
FK is pretty heavy on the use of components, but it also has magical spell pouches, right? If they're able to call the component to your hand as opposed to the spellcaster having to dig it out from a pocket, that could get around the material component part. I guess it'd depend on how the pouches w...

Re: Flight - recent changes
Instead of just complaining about how this fix ruins everyone's day, let's try to figure out how to fix the spell. The problem with the spell as it was coded is that it far outstrips the capabilities that the flight spell should have - to the point of being game breaking. It allowed anyone with flig...

Re: My take on the current game
I have just a few things to comment on here. First, the stamina issue. I tend to agree that characters don't have enough stamina in the early levels. This is somewhat mitigated by the fact that most of your leveling early on can be done in places that are close to where you start (especially if you ...

RE: Letting people see stats will make them focus on min/maxing etc. The thing is, anyone who is really interested in doing this will already be able to do it. I have a very good idea of what the stats are for most of my characters. I have a very good idea of what my AC is (since it works the same w...

Re: Fuzzy Values
The problem with words is that they have no precision at all. All of the words for stats, defense, saving throws, etc have a range of numbers associated with them. This becomes a real problem when you're trying to code stat checks for things like feats. How do people know if they have the 16 dexteri...

Re: Faith Leaders
I know that the imm team is aware of the fact that some faiths don't have an active FM or an active enough FM. I can assure you that there are steps being taken to deal with that, but these things take time. I'll offer three pieces of advice for people who want to join a faith. First, make sure that...

Re: Fumbling with skills
I'd love to see a skill point system for the game where we could allocate points to class and cross-class skills. It would make thieves more useful (due to their high number of skill points and class skills) and create a way to level up passive and seldom used skills like listen or spot (if that get...

Re: Teaching, several months later
I have used the system several times as a student. I enjoy the experience of learning from an actual person instead of a trainer, but right now the utility of learning from a person is quite low. All of the spells I can learn from my PC teacher are spells I can learn from a mob (to a much higher lev...

Re: PG-13 Clarification and Other Stories
I'm of the opinion that any same sex relationships should be allowed without application. I'd also probably change 'inter-racial' to 'inter-species'. Calling them interracial relationships carries some baggage that we probably don't want to get involved with. I think we'd rather not give the impress...

Re: Disarm/Draw
I prefer to keep it so that the player needs to choose what to do after getting disarmed. If someone draws a weapon immediately after getting disarmed it really defeats the purpose of disarming them. The slight lag between getting disarmed and deciding what to do next is the biggest bonus to disarmi...

Re: FK World vs. FR World
Amphail itself doesn't exist, but it's perfectly fine to have a character who comes from there (although obviously you wouldn't be able to actually go there unless someone builds it). A citizen of any city can reasonably claim to be from the surrounding area instead. Lots of people who make ranger a...

Re: A possibility: global reset
RE: The reset is not fair to old players There have been several people who have argued that the reset is not fair to old characters because over the years they've earned a bunch of stat points through hard work and dedication. This is a vastly overblown argument. Most of the older characters have ...

Re: A possibility: global reset
I am in favor of a stat/feat reset. Most older characters (including many of mine) had more stats to begin with than current characters. Add in the fact that we've been accumulating glory for a much longer time and you end up with old characters having vastly superior stats to new characters. I know...

Re: [Trade] Fletching
There's an idea. Forget pushing for bulk crafting or lag reduction, they are not going anywhere. Instead push for arrows to last longer. Arrows taking damage less often would go along way for arrow users without treading on trades their built-in delays. With all due respect, I don't think it's your...
