Menzoberranzan
Menzoberranzan is the underground city of the drow. It is a matriarchal
society rule by the matron mothers of the four highest ranked ruling houses
of the city. Drow are born into their houses, and only rarely are commoners
adopted into the nobility. Females, regardless of rank in their house are
superior to all males as far as Menzoberranzan is concerned. The city is
said to be located somewhere to the northern part of Faerun deep underground.
It is said for surface dwellers to venture there is next to committing suicide.
Only the most fool hardy of traders ever make the long journey for a profitable
yet risky trade.
