Re: Character Quotes
Picture a weasel – and most of us can do that, for we have met that little demon of destruction, that small atom of insensate courage, that symbol of slaughter, sleeplessness, and tireless, incredible activity – picture that scrap of demoniac fury, multiply that mite some fifty times, and you have ...

It has been decided that warrior characters wishing to become rangers must do so via the Council of Rangers Rangers must have a 'good' aspect to their alignment Yes, looked at in that stark fashion it could appear that we are going against the survivalist/independent characteristics that typify man...

I've never felt the need to use derogatory terms when dealing with elves. Just calling them 'elf' is more than enough if you emphasise it right. That said, does it really matter what term someone uses and whether or not it is etymologically correct? Taking the example of 'pansy'... Elves are not pan...

I have business within the Undermount and might well be willing to offer my services if such a group were to be formed. It might prove interesting to observe how one of your kind deals with the perils of command and decision... long reflection is not a trait that will serve you well in Halaster's r...

The subject of aliases, something to tag players who do not greet, a 'fake' greet... all of these have been discussed before on the Mud. Much of it was present on the old forums.. but they seem to have gone (or I may just be looking for them in the wrong place :) ) The upshot of much of the discussi...

Syntax: sap <character> Sap attempts to hit the target on the head and knock them unconscious. A successful sap will stop the fight. * This skill is affected by the type of armour you wear. Heavier armour will increase the chance of failure in this skill. This is not entirely the same as stunning a ...

Nothing to disagree with here so far:) I should point out that I haven't actually said that rangers and/or druids should be specifically city-phobic. Ursan is known to visit from time to time and so are many others. Though druids in cities has been and I think, should remain, a much rarer event. I l...

You make a fair point Kregor, and Micheal (in his own unique way) also. I would point out though, that Forgotten Kingdoms is a little different to Forgotten Realms in how it deals with the priesthood of Mielikki and Chauntea. In order to allow a Druid 'class' within the Mud, the priests of Mielikki ...

I have no strong opinion either way on this, but I think that most players who's main characters are not thieves will likely side with the arguments above. So just to make for an interesting debate, here is another way to look at it. A lot of what happens in a spar is influenced by the OOC ground ru...

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments Balek, but I think you may have worded them a little strongly. It's probably just as impolite to turn what could have been a simple 'Hmm, the Imms are kind of busy you know, maybe you/we could offer some help there?' into a sarcastic name-calling instead. ...

Like many others, I suspect, I've been following this thread with some interest over the last week or so. What started out as a pondering over an uber-skill has managed to go right out to character morality and back again with a side-trip into game mechanics and the way class skills are balanced. I ...

The in-character issues of sleeping in Undermountain apply to most places where there are evil/agressive mobs. If travelling in those places leaves you so injured the you require to sleep to recover, then OOCly and ICly you would be better to travel in a group. Knowing where 'safe havens' are (ie pl...

The code is designed to reboot in the event of a crash, sometimes the nature of the crash is such that the game is unable to reboot without one of the admin team taking direct action. A bugged spell or item, an inappropriate action by a player, any number of things can cause the game to crash and it...

Like most spells, Control Undead will have a time limit on its effectiveness My experience with Animate Dead prior to the introduction of Control Undead would bear this out. After a period of time, the Undead creature is no longer under your direct control I am assuming that this is what has happened
Just to clarify this... You CAN (hmm, or could up to a point a few months ago, might have changed when Kismet came in) create a dwarven wizard However, as with halfling wizards, the character would not be able to join a Guild and would be restricted to only the starting wizard spells and skills. Suc...
